Before Your Wedding Day
Pressing
Our Certified Wedding Gown Specialist™ will press your gown so that it looks perfect on your wedding day. Or our Specialist™ can pack your gown with a bodice form and plenty of tissue to prevent creases when it is shipped to your destination wedding. Many of our Specialists™ offer free pick-up and delivery to your home or to your wedding venue, and if you are having your gown cleaned and preserved after the wedding, they will also offer free pressing for your wedding day.
Hand Cleaning
No need to worry that cleaning your gown will harm it. We remove stains by hand with gentle solutions that safely dissolve them before your gown is rinsed in pristine solvent so that it is completely clean and prepared for final pressing.
After Your Wedding Day
Wedding Gown Cleaning
The members of the Association of Wedding Gown Specialists are highly skilled and trained to clean wedding gowns with special care according to standard museum-quality practices. Many stains, especially soda and white wine, can dry clear without discoloring your gown, and ordinary cleaning does not remove them. Over time these sugary stains will caramelize into ugly brown spots that cannot be removed without a water-based procedure that requires a great deal of time and additional cost. Our Specialists™ know this and take several extra steps to be sure that each such latent mark will be completely eliminated from your gown.
Wedding Gown Preservation
Turn the memory of your wedding day into a cherished treasure. Let us clean and preserve your gown and fold it into an archival, museum-quality wedding chest. You may ask to inspect your gown before it is preserved and protected from the harmful effects of light and air. Our preservation process is also eco-friendly because we partner with the Arbor Day Foundation to plant a tree in celebration of your wedding in a forest of great need when you preserve your gown. Our written international guarantee is also unique; any one of our members in more than 500 cities worldwide will press your gown at no charge when it is to be worn again.
Selling or Donating Your Gown
If you are considering the sale of your gown, you can learn its approximate value by using the calculator at the international website PreOwnedWeddingDresses. StillWhite.com.au in Australia is a very reputable online resource for selling your gown. If you prefer to donate your gown to a charity, consider the Angel Gown Program or The Salvation Army.
Gown Cleaning and Care Tips
For preserving your very special gown, trust our Certified Wedding Gown Specialists™ to help you assure your wedding gown, too, has a happily ever after.
Always . . .
. . . use the loops inside your wedding gown that are connected to the sturdy side seams to hang your gown so that it does not stretch while it is hanging
Always . . .
. . . keep plastic covers away from your gown because plastic emits fumes that can yellow your gown, and never shrink-wrap your gown with plastic because plastic traps moisture that can cause mildew—any fabric, even an old sheet, is a better way to protect your gown than plastic
Always . . .
. . . ask how the Specialist will protect delicate decorations such as beads, trims, and lace during cleaning and what the cleaner does to remove latent stains that will eventually turn an ugly brown
Always . . .
. . . take your wedding gown to a Specialist who does his or her own work in his own plant and will be personally responsible for your gown—not anyone who will send your gown to someone else
Always . . .
. . . ask to see your gown before it is stored in a wedding chest and ask whether the wedding chest is completely acid-free and lined with fabric or acid-free tissue
Always . . .
. . . ask who will honor the guarantee–today or twenty-five years from today
Always . . .
. . . store your preserved wedding gown where there are no extreme changes in heat or humidity
